I admit that I’m one of those people. I really like smell-good body wash, but I change my mind a lot. So I end up with 719 bottles of body wash that are half empty because I just got bored and moved on to another scent. Then when I started making my own body wash I cured myself by making small batches in different scents.I can make four Essential Oil Body Wash recipes in less than10 minutes!

4 Essential Oil Body Wash Recipes (1)

This Body Wash is so easy to make in small batches and contains just afew ingredients.

These are my favorite 2-ounce squeeze bottlesthat are perfect for this recipe.

The key is in the cleansing base. We use Young Living Bath & Shower Gel Base. It’s got a substantial feel (read: it’s not goopy or watery) without any odor. It rinses clean and leaves my skin feeling fresh.

Another fantastic base is this unscented, organic shikakai soap and Castile soap blend. This hand and bodysoap is gentle and appropriate for all skin types. Try the recipe both ways and let us know which one you prefer!

4 Essential Oil Body Wash Recipes (2)

I always add extra nourishing ingredients to my body wash. It helps me keep my skin healthy and beautiful. I do this with a moisturizing carrier oil (like Jojoba oil)and the antioxidant powerhouse of vitamin Eoil. These pair up in so many of our recipes because they’re packed with powerful, nourishing benefits.

You’ll want to note that none of these body wash bases will lather very much. You don’t need bubbles to get clean. I know it takes a little getting used to, but after a while you won’t even think about the lather being a factor.

Do I need to add any preservatives to it if I want to sell them?

I’m not sure what it would take to sell these. I’m sure that the requirements for boutique homemade bath products is regulated in every area differently. I’d check with your local FDA office to see about the guidelines there.

Valerie – you might enjoy this recipe: http://www.recipeswithessentialoils.com/moisturizing-after-shower-body-oil/ It’s not a spray, but it’s an oil. Feel free to adapt to a spray, if desired.

    Hi,

I made one body wash, but it did not fill up the 2 oz. bottle. Did I do something wrong or not add enough of something?

    Reply

    • Beth K says

Well the tablespoons and teaspoons add up to just less than 2 ounces (4 tablespoons). I’d just add more Shikakai Body Soap to fill the bottle.

Can you make this in a foaming pump for body wash? Would you need about 10-15 drops of EO to give it a decent scent?

That sounds like a great idea! Let us know how that works for you.

What other oil can I use instead of jojoba oil for the shower gel?

You could certainly substitute jojoba oil with another carrier oil such as grapeseed or rosehip. Enjoy!

Hello! I love your recipe ideas. I wanted to make a lavender mint body wash to mimic the scent of the Lavender Mint Young Living shampoo and conditioner. Any thoughts of how many drops of each? Also, I have peppermint and spearmint. Which would you recommend? Thanks! ❤️

That sounds amazing! I would follow this recipe, but try it with 2 drops lavender and 1 drop spearmint.
